In June, VIQUA welcomed Adam Pierson to the role of General Manager. It seems only fitting that this former US Navy Officer should find himself at the helm of another business unit within the Danaher Water Quality group. Adam’s previous role was as the Director of the Hach ETS Business Unit. Before joining Danaher in 2015, he held several senior roles at his alma mater, the University of Notre Dame, Brunswick Corporation, and BoozAllen Hamilton.
Adam has a strong affinity for the University of Notre Dame, having returned to the campus where he earned his undergrad degree in Management Information Systems (and met his wife!) to take on roles in Strategic Planning and Continuous Improvement. Adam also holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. But it’s the time in between that captures the imagination.
Adam served four years in the US Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer based out of Pearl Harbor and deploying to the North Arabian Gulf for months at a time. It’s remarkable that for the stresses and responsibility as Officer of the Deck, navigating the ship at night, that Adam could still pause to appreciate the peace and stillness of the night punctuated only by the lapping of the waves against the vessel.
Adam is a huge fan of the Fighting Irish and hopes (as we do) that televised games will be available at his new home in Guelph. In fact, it is the words of the former head football coach of the University of Notre Dame, Lou Holtz, that have served Adam well. He said, “I never learn anything talking. I only learn things when I ask questions.” No doubt it was Adam’s strong listening skills, strategic thinking, and deep understanding of Danaher’s DBS tools that enabled him to drive business results while increasing customer satisfaction at Hach ETS.
Adam is no stranger to moving, but this one from Indiana to Guelph will be a significant change for his wife, daughter (8) and son (6). However, they look forward to becoming a part of the community here. Step one will be to engage his children in their various sports and activities. And though much of his leisure time is dedicated to his family, Adam hopes to find ways to contribute to his new community as he did previously serving on the board of his former Homeowner’s Association. When asked what the family looked forward to experiencing in Canada, the answer was poutine!
Adam is pleased to have joined an organization of knowledgeable and dedicated associates, and we look forward to the next phase of VIQUA’s journey with him aboard.
